Doug Bolton, Team Leader
Doug retired in 2004 from a career (31 years) in law enforcement, serving his last 3 years as Major, commanding some 150 officers and support staff in the South Precinct of DeKalb County, Georgia.
During that time Doug and his wife, Sherri, moved to Covington, GA, where they built a home. After retiring Doug served as the first Executive Director of the Evening Reporting Center in Covington (a place where juvenile offenders went after school rather than be incarcerated).
In 2007, Doug became the first Executive Director of Hands On Newton, a volunteer organization that partnered volunteers with projects and organizations that needed volunteers to attain their mission. After 2 years Doug went back to retirement, and he has maintained that status to this point.
He has two grown children, a son and a daughter, and two young grandchildren, 3 and 1 year olds.
Doug has been a Rotarian for 12 years, serving in two different clubs. He served as President in each of those clubs as well as holding numerous other board positions. He was also president of the DeKalb Rotary Council, a group of eight clubs in DeKalb County (adjacent to Atlanta), and he served as District 6900 Sports Activities Chair during the 2003 District Conference.
He is the recipient of two Rotarian of the Year awards (one from each of the clubs he served), a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Bequeath Society member, and a Georgia Rotary Student Program Will Watt Fellow.
